The Claypits

This is an overgrown strip of public land opposite the entrance to Crofty Nursery. It is proposed that it be cleared for use by the village - but first a site inspection is required to ascertain whether there are any building remains or graves from the old chapel that once stood in the vicinity (this was from around the early 1900s to 1889 when the then Mountain Chapel was built).
This task is being co-ordinated by members of the Community Association and will involve both an archaeological and environmental study with the aid of PLANED.

Some activity at The Claypits as I spotted this orange fence yesterday - looks like an entrance being made there - or access for equipment - still there's got to be some way in for people!!

Just passed last night and saw what a fantastic job the Community Association have been doing of levelling off the first section of the old Claypits.

As you can see from the first set of pictures it really is a transformation.

When all the work is eventually finished it will be a great community area.
