Volunteer Befriending Scheme for Bereaved

Paul Sartori Foundation is seeking to expand its hospice at home service through the establishment of a volunteer befriending scheme.  People who feel they wish to be part of this new  project please contact Lorna Johns, Hospice Director

The befriending circle will meet in Pentlepoir on Friday afternoons and will be led by volunteer Norah.  Referrals to the Circle will be made by the Paul Sartori Foundation.  People from all over the County are welcome to join.  The initial meeting will be on April 4th 2008 at 2pm.  Anyone who wishes to join shound ring Lorna on the above number.

 Laugharne Library

Laugharne Library had now closed (May 2010) but has been replaced by two library vans.
two community vans will be visiting communities in the area to continue this valuable service. The timetabled stops are subject to review and can be amended to suit user demand where practicable.

Due to the size of the roads, the larger van can only access some parts of the area so the smaller van covers areas off the main road.

The yellow van will stop at Llansadwrnen between 11 and 11.30am and at Woodsend between 11.30 and 12.15, with one stop above Pendine at 1.45pm on the fourth Tuesday of every month.

The white van will visit Laugharne church at 9.45am to 10.15am, subject to Church Council approval; Pendine seafront between 10.30am and 11am; Llanmiloe estate 11am to 11.30am; and Laugharne square 11.40am to 12.10 on the second and fourth Friday of every month.

 Visiting Mobile Library

Three mobile libraries provide a service to rural areas of Pembrokeshire, each route has calls at set times and on the same day every three weeks. Anyone can join even if they use other Pembrokeshire Libraries.

All mobile libraries carry books in English and Welsh and talking books. A small charge is made for the loan of talking books, with concessions for the elderly and special groups.

 Kilgetty Community Library - Book Swop

Behind the Information Centre.  Bring along a book to swop if you can - or just come to borrow.  There is no time limit once you take out a book, and they only charge about 10-20p for the privilege.

For those in Pembrokeshire who do not have transport for essential journeys.  There are two wheelchair accessible vehicles too - one in the north and one in the south of the county.

  • Personal business (solicitor, accountant etc)

RSVP Cars for Carers is run by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme and is a community car scheme providing transport for unpaid carers in Pembrokeshire.

All our volunteers are mature, friendly folk who use their own cars to take you on any journey you consider essential, be it to your local surgery or to see friends or family. You can travel with us around 3 times per week and our rates are the same as those of WRVS Country Cars.
